How much performance difference is it between nvidias 160M GTS and 260M GTX? Anyone know of any comparisons? Is it worth the price difference in 300 us dollars?

Tom's Hardware has charts of GPU tests, which can be quite nice. However, I cannot find the two cards you're interested in on the lists. Maybe they have a laptop* GPU chart somewhere that I can't find.

This site has a chart which is somewhat helpful, telling you that you can run everything this side of Crysis on Ultra with those cards, but not giving any FPS numbers.

Yeah, Ive been reading on notebookchecks.. they're both up on the 1. Class list of cards so they should be good.. M is for mobile yes..
