Converting files into DirectX's .x file format...?
Hello,
I would like to know if there is any free/cheap software that can generate 3D models in Direct X''s .x file format.
Whether it is a conversion utility or a 3D modeler that exports using the .x file format does not matter.
Any help?
Thanks!
I''m sorry that I can''t remimber the name of the program but it can convert multiple files from texture files to modeling files, if and when I remimber the name of the program I''ll be sure to post it.
The name of the program that is 3d exploration,
it''s shareware
If your just trying to convert 3ds files then just use
"conv3ds.exe" from the directX SDK.
I use it all the time and made a VERY cheap frontend for it
to ease it''s command prompt use.
Ask me if you want it

Thanks for the input, folks.
I believe I will go will Nendo though, since I still need a 3D modeling package (it exports .x files), and 3dsmax is far too pricy for a hobby.

try crossRoads, and you probaly know this, the blender(www.blender.nl), its free, but it doesnt export x files, so you have to save it as autocad or xml
