OpenGL is available for Linux, both commercial implementations and MESA a free implementation.
OpenGL is standard pretty much everywhere. None of the other APIs are standardized to a decent degree, and there are too many of them. On a side note, is there any way to do hardware accelerated morphs in GL liek there is in D3D7? Arigatoo gozaimasu

PS What on earth is this icon supposed to be?
An eyeball I believe...but more importantly(not really), what is my icon.

Old man with glasses? I don''t get it.

When life hands you lemons, throw them at God's head.
I almost forgot, Glide is also available on Linux.

And I think the icon is supposed to be Santa Claus.
For low-level graphics (think blitting), sound, CD-audio, input, threading, etc. SDL is a fairly standard library. It does not do 3D, or some of the higher functionality 2D. But there are packages that sit on top of SDL that give you more options.
